SkillsConnect Phase 2 – Full Launch – The full launch of Phase 2 of the SkillsConnect system which provides for the application and claim of training grants (comprising course fee and absentee payroll grants) will take place on 22 March 2010. Please click here for more information.

A Security Firm Was Prosecuted for Falsified Claims - WDA acted against the Director and an employee of a security firm for submitting falsified claims to the SDF and Absentee Payroll Funding scheme. More information can be found in this Notification sent to Security Companies and Training Providers.

System Blockage - Prior to the soft launch of Phase 2 of the SkillsConnect system, there will be a system blockage of SDF EasyNet system from 12 Oct 09. During this time, the SDF EasyNet system will not be able to accept transactions made by training providers. Please click here for more information.

Update on Unique Entity Number (UEN) and NRIC Deployment – The move to Phase 2 of the SkillsConnect system requires the assistance of training providers and companies to ensure that their UEN and newly-added NRIC fields are updated accordingly. This exercise shall commence from 11 August 2009. Please click here for more information.

Skills Programme for Upgrading and Resilience - The Ministry of Manpower has introduced new measures under SPUR (Skills Programme for Upgrading and Resilience) to further develop Singapore’s manpower capabilities and provide greater support for companies and workers, especially Professionals, Managers, Executives and Technicians (PMETs), affected by the downturn. Revision of Skills Development Levy (SDL) - With effect from 1 October 2008, SDL contribution is payable by employers for all employees up to the first $4,500 of gross monthly remuneration at a reduced levy rate of 0.25% or $2, whichever is higher. For more details Click here.

Revision of Absentee Payroll Funding - Increase in Absentee Payroll cap to better support training for PMETs. With effect from 15 May 2009, absentee payroll cap will be increased from $6/$6.80 to $10 per training hour for employees sent for training under SPUR. Employers will qualify for this new absentee payroll rate for all SPUR courses commencing on or after 15 May 2009. Misuse of the SDF - WDA takes firm stand against misuse of the Skills Development Fund. More information can be found in the Notification sent to all Training Providers & Companies and the Press Release issued.
